Hundreds of thousands of space heaters sold across the country by major retailers such as Costco and Home Depot are being recalled after multiple reports that the units caught fire.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said consumers who own certain DREO space heater models should stop using them immediately.
The recall covers 338,000 units sold at Costco stores, as well as online through Home Depot, Best Buy, Kohl's, QVC, Lowe's and other retailers.
According to the notice, DREO has received at least 17 reports of the heaters igniting. Three of those incidents caused property damage, and one resulted in a burn injury to a hand.
The products were sold for between $70 and $110, and additional units were sold in Canada.
The recalled models include:
DREO Space Heater - model DR-HSH015
DREO Space Heater - model DR-HSH015
The heaters were manufactured between April 2025 and January 2026. The manufacture date can be found on the underside of the heater and on the front of the unit.
The alert said the recalled heaters can overheat and catch fire, creating fire and burn hazards.
The CPSC advised consumers to stop using the heaters immediately and contact DREO for a free replacement.
Consumers will be instructed to unplug the heater, cut the power cord to destroy it, and then follow directions for sending a photo of the destroyed unit.
