The This Is Us star has shared more about what happened after she began using weight-loss medication.
Chrissy Metz says she has experienced an unexpected upside while taking a GLP-1 medication for weight loss.
In a red carpet conversation with Entertainment Tonight outside the premiere of Apple TV+’s Nocturne, the Emmy-nominated actress said the treatment has not only helped her shed 63 pounds, but has also affected her stamina and eased symptoms linked to perimenopause.
Metz, 46, recently made her Broadway debut in a limited run of & Juliet, playing Juliet’s nurse and confidante, Angelique.
“They had this girl dancing and singing around the stage,” she said, adding that having the energy for eight performances a week from June through September was “really amazing.”
She also said, “I’m perimenopausal. I got knee issues, like there’s things going on.”
The actress said she has noticed much less inflammation in her body since starting the treatment. She also said the medication has helped quiet what she described as “food noise,” giving her more mental space to focus on other things.

Chrissy Metz Stuns in Velvet Gown After 60-Lb. Weight Loss
Reducing obsessive thoughts about food is among the widely reported side effects of drugs such as Wegovy and Zepbound, which are designed to curb appetite and help people feel full for longer.
The This Is Us alum has been open about her weight-loss journey, even weaving it into Kate Pearson’s storyline on the ABC drama.
Metz told People that she had been wary of weight-loss drugs for years, but ultimately chose to try one after seeing obesity in her family history.
“I felt like I’ve tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me,” Metz said. “It’s so nice not to be obsessing about what I’m going to have every minute, even as I’m still consuming the meal. I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn’t eat this or that.”
