Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card Becomes a Standout Travel Card Thanks to a Bigger Bonus

Digilifetrends Published 4 min read

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card (see rates and fees) was already one of my favorite cards. With its new limited-time welcome bonus, it is even harder to overlook.

New cardholders can earn more than $1,000 in travel bonuses with a limited-time $300 Capital One Travel stays credit, plus 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. That is one of the strongest offers available on a card with a $95 annual fee (see rates and fees).

Here is what to know about the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and why it may be a smart time to apply if you have been considering it.

What the welcome offer could be worth

At a minimum, Capital One miles are generally worth about $0.01 each when redeemed for travel through Capital One Travel. On that basis, a 75,000-mile bonus is worth at least $750 in travel value, and potentially more if you transfer miles to one of Capital One's partners.

The $300 Capital One Travel stays credit adds even more value. The card's standard bonus is 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months, so the stays credit is what really makes this offer stand out. Combined, the total value can easily top $1,000 in travel rewards.

If you can meet the $4,000 spending requirement, the offer is well worth it. Using the card for everyday purchases such as gas, groceries, and online shopping can make the threshold easier to reach. Once you do, the rewards can help offset the annual fee for years.

Other reasons this card stands out

We named the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card the Best Credit Card for Gen Z in our 2026 awards because its rewards structure is simple and easy to use.

It earns 5X miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, plus 2X miles on every purchase. While the 5X rate is useful, the 2X earning rate is likely where most cardholders will build rewards, and it is among the strongest flat-rate earning structures available.

The card also offers up to $120 in credit every four years toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. Even for infrequent travelers, that can save time and reduce hassle at airport security.

How to get the most value from your miles

You do not need to be an expert in points and miles to benefit from the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card (see rates and fees).

There is also room to stretch your rewards further. Miles can be transferred to more than 15 travel loyalty programs, including:

  • Air Canada
  • Air France
  • Avianca
  • British Airways
  • Wyndham
  • Choice Privileges

One approach is to use miles for a flight and then apply the stays credit toward lodging. That can help cover the two biggest costs of a trip, at least in part, with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card.

Is this the right card for you?

This card may not be the best fit if you want airport lounge access or a long list of annual credits, since it offers neither. In that case, a premium card such as the American Express Platinum Card® or the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card (see rates and fees) may be a better option.

The Capital One Venture X Card was our 2026 pick for Best Travel Credit Card. With a $395 annual fee (see rates and fees), it offers premium benefits such as airport lounge access and a $300 travel credit for bookings made through Capital One Travel, while still costing about half as much as some luxury competitors.

For many travelers, though, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card (see rates and fees) is the better starting point before moving up to the Venture X Card (see rates and fees). The current limited-time bonus makes the case even stronger.

If you are still comparing options, our list of the best travel credit cards is a helpful place to start.
