An earlier payment is coming for some Social Security recipients.

The November Supplemental Security Income payment is scheduled to arrive this week, which means some beneficiaries may receive two checks this month. Here's what to know.

Who can receive Supplemental Security Income?

Supplemental Security Income is a needs-based program that provides monthly payments to people with limited income and resources who are 65 or older, blind, or living with a qualifying disability.

More than 575,000 Texans receive SSI payments, according to data from the Social Security Administration.

The maximum federal SSI payment amounts for 2026 are:

  • $994 for an eligible individual
  • $1,491 for an eligible individual with an eligible spouse
  • $498 for an essential person

When will November's Supplemental Security Income payment arrive?

SSI benefits are usually paid on the first day of each month. When the first day falls on a weekend, the money is sent on the Friday before.

That means November's payment will be issued on Friday, Oct. 30, instead of Sunday, Nov. 1. A full list of 2026 payment dates is available on the administration's website, or at ssa.gov/pubs/calendar.htm.

If your payment does not arrive on the expected date, the administration recommends waiting three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security.

People who receive Social Security retirement or disability benefits will not be affected and should keep their usual payment schedule.

Will the Social Security COLA affect SSI payments?

Earlier this month, the Social Security Administration announced that Social Security recipients will see a 3.6% increase in monthly benefits next year.

That increase applies to Social Security recipients and SSI beneficiaries. However, people receiving SSI payments will see the higher amount on Dec. 31 rather than on the usual payment date, because Jan. 1 is a federal holiday.
