A widely sold supplement available through Whole Foods and Amazon has been recalled after a possible salmonella contamination was identified, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Vitality Works Inc., based in Albuquerque, recalled one lot of 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha Capsules because the tablets may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to a recall notice posted on the FDA website.
The recalled product, lot number 2025-26227, was sold in white 120-count bottles at Whole Foods stores nationwide and on Amazon.
The bottles are labeled with an expiration date of Nov. 13, 2028. The FDA said anyone who has the capsules should not use them, and refunds are available at any Whole Foods store.
The agency added that no illnesses have been reported to date and that the issue was discovered through routine testing.
