People who receive Supplemental Security Income do not have to wait for a payment to arrive during November. That is not an error.
Because of the way the calendar falls, recipients will receive two SSI checks during October, with the November payment scheduled to be sent out on Friday, Oct. 30. SSI payments are usually issued on the first day of the month, but they can go out earlier when that date lands on a weekend or a holiday.
In this case, a payment was sent on Oct. 1, and since Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday, the November checks are set to go out on Oct. 30, according to the Social Security Administration’s calendar. A similar shift happens in December, when the January payment is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 31, because New Year’s Day is a holiday.
SSI payment dates for the remainder of 2026
According to the SSA calendar, the remaining SSI payment dates are:
- Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 (check for November 2026)
- Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2026 (check for December 2026)
- Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026 (check for January 2027)
What SSI is
Supplemental Security Income is run by the Social Security Administration and helps people with limited or no income or resources, adults age 65 and older, and people who are blind or have a qualifying disability. Children with a qualifying disability may also be eligible.
About 7.3 million Americans receive SSI each month, and roughly one-third of recipients also get Social Security benefits, according to the SSA. Generally, working adults who earn more than $2,073 a month do not qualify for SSI.
To check whether you may be eligible, visit the Social Security website. You can also contact your local Social Security office in person or call 1-800-772-1213, or 1-800-325-0778 for TTY, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time during the work week.
SSI schedule for the rest of 2026
The SSA says SSI is typically paid on the first business day of the month. When that day falls on a weekend, the payment is sent on the last business day of the prior month. For the November payment, that means the check is issued at the end of October.
