The Bilt Palladium Card is the top-tier offering in the Bilt card lineup, and it remains one of my favorite all-around cards. If you’ve been considering it, I’d strongly suggest applying sooner rather than later, and certainly before the end of 2026. Here’s why.
The Bilt Palladium Card delivers strong value
This is the Bilt card I use the most, and for good reason. It carries a $495 annual fee, but its current benefits are compelling:
- A welcome bonus of 50,000 points, Bilt Gold status after spending $4,000 in the first 90 days on non-housing purchases, and $300 in Bilt Cash after approval
- 2x points per dollar spent, plus 4% back in the form of Bilt Cash
- $200 in Bilt Cash each year as an anniversary-style perk, along with up to $400 in annual hotel credit through the Bilt travel portal, delivered as a $200 semiannual credit for stays of at least two nights
- Priority Pass access for the cardholder, with up to two guests allowed; authorized users also receive membership, subject to the Mastercard Guide to Benefits
For me, the appeal is easy to understand. The combination of 2x points and 4% back in Bilt Cash is an exceptional return, especially when you factor in the value of Bilt points. Spending on Bilt cards also helps you earn Bilt elite status, which can unlock better Rent Day promotions.
At a basic level, the Bilt Cash I earn gives me 1x points per dollar on housing payments without any fee, and I also use the Points Accelerator feature to earn an additional 1x points per dollar up to five times each year by redeeming $200 in Bilt Cash. Put another way, I can earn 3x points on as much as $25,000 in annual spending, while also being rewarded on housing expenses.
Because Bilt points accumulate quickly, this card is hard to beat if you put a lot of spending on credit cards. That’s before even considering the hotel credit, which can be combined with Bilt Cash for an even larger discount on a stay.
The Bilt Palladium Bilt Cash window is closing
Bilt has changes coming in 2027. While the company says the changes are meant to simplify the program, they may feel more complicated for existing members. Starting in 2027, Bilt members will earn rewards on housing payments based on a percentage of card spending, instead of earning 4% back in Bilt Cash on all spending.
The good news is that through December 31, 2026, members can still choose the old earning structure, and that choice will continue into 2027 and beyond. That option is available to current cardmembers as well as to people who open the card before then and select it as their earnings preference.
If you lock in the grandfathered setup with the Bilt Palladium Card, you’ll keep the following:
- 4% back on spending in the form of Bilt Cash, which can still be used for housing payments, the Points Accelerator feature, and hotel credits
- Up to $400 in annual hotel credits, which can be stacked with Bilt Cash for hotel redemptions instead of being automatically converted into Bilt Cash, preserving more flexibility
For example, I currently have more Bilt Cash than I can reasonably redeem, but it still helps me earn 1x points on housing payments, maximize Points Accelerator redemptions, unlock stronger Rent Day offers, and redeem with Lyft and Walgreens, giving me $120 in credit with each of those partners per year.
I still think the Bilt Palladium Card can be worthwhile under the new structure, where rewards on housing payments would work as shown below and cardmembers would also receive $600 in Bilt Cash annually starting in 2027, even though the 4% back on spending would go away.
| Points on housing | Minimum everyday spend as a percentage of monthly rent or mortgage (example using $2,000 rent) |
|---|---|
| 0.5x points | Spend at least 25% of monthly rent ($500) |
| 0.75x points | Spend at least 50% of monthly rent ($1,000) |
| 1x points | Spend at least 75% of monthly rent ($1,500) |
| 1.25x points | Spend at least the full amount of monthly rent ($2,000) |
If the Bilt Palladium Card has been on your list, this is the time to apply. Doing so gives you the best chance to maximize the card’s value over the long term.
Bottom line
Bilt’s 2027 program changes are a mixed development. The biggest downside, in my view, is that cardmembers will move from earning points plus flexible Bilt Cash on spending to earning points plus housing-related rewards at a fixed rate.
For me, the old setup is clearly better. The good news is that through the end of 2026, you can still opt into that system and keep it going after that point. That applies both to current cardholders and to people who open the card before the deadline. If the Bilt Palladium Card is already on your radar, I’d recommend applying soon.
