SSI recipients will get their November benefit payment in October.
Most Social Security payments are issued on Wednesdays according to the beneficiary’s birth date, unless a holiday changes the schedule.
Some Social Security beneficiaries will receive their checks earlier than usual this month.
Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, is normally paid on the first day of each month. This needs-based program supports people age 65 and older, as well as blind or disabled individuals with limited income and resources. When the first day lands on a weekend or holiday, the payment is sent on the previous business day. For the November payment cycle, beneficiaries will receive their check two days early, on Oct. 30.
People who filed for Social Security before May 1, 1997, along with those who receive both Social Security and SSI, are paid on the third day of each month.
Other Social Security beneficiaries are paid on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of the month, based on their birth date. In November, the second Wednesday falls on a holiday, so beneficiaries whose birthdays are between the first and tenth of the month will receive their payments one day early.
Why This Matters
Many older adults depend on fixed Social Security income or retirement savings withdrawals to manage everyday expenses. Knowing when payments arrive can make it easier to plan for rent, groceries, and other bills.
