Millions of Americans who receive Social Security benefits have November payment dates set. Here is when recipients can expect their checks.

Social Security payment schedule for November 2026

The Social Security Administration issues monthly payments, but the exact date depends in part on your birth date.

Retirement, disability and survivor beneficiaries who began claiming after May 1, 1997 are paid on either the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month.

Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, which provides monthly payments to people with disabilities and older adults with little or no income or resources, is usually paid on the 1st of each month.

If the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are generally sent on the previous business day.

People who started receiving benefits before May 1997 also follow a set payment date.

Beneficiaries can expect the following monthly payment dates:

  • SSA beneficiaries who began receiving benefits before May 1997: Tuesday, November 3
  • Birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month: November 10, since the usual second Wednesday falls on Veterans Day and payments are issued the day before
  • Birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month: November 18
  • Birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month: November 25

SSI payments are generally sent on the 1st of the month unless that date lands on a weekend or holiday. In this case, recipients will receive the November payment on Friday, October 30, because November 1 falls on a Sunday.

How to report a missing Social Security payment

If an electronic payment does not arrive on the scheduled date, the Social Security Administration says recipients should first contact their bank or financial institution, which may be experiencing a delay in posting the payment.

Anyone who still needs to report a late, missing or stolen Social Security payment should call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or contact a local Social Security office.

The administration says it will review the case and replace the payment if it is due.
