Millions of Americans who receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits are facing a slightly altered payment calendar this month. Because of a federal holiday and the way the calendar falls, some deposits are arriving earlier than usual.
One important change is that SSI recipients will not get a separate payment this month, since that monthly benefit was already paid out at the end of the previous month.
November Social Security Payment Schedule by Birth Date
The Social Security Administration (SSA) sends regular monthly benefits on four different dates this month:
| Payment Date | Eligible Beneficiary Group | Key Detail / Adjustment |
| November 3 | People who claimed before May 1997 and dual Social Security/SSI recipients | Standard early-month schedule |
| November 10 | Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th | One day early because of Veterans Day |
| November 18 | Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th | Standard third-Wednesday deposit |
| November 25 | Beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st | Standard fourth-Wednesday deposit |
Why Some Payments Are Coming Earlier
The main change in the schedule is tied to Veterans Day. Since federal offices and banks close for federal holidays, people born between the 1st and 10th, who would normally be paid on the second Wednesday of the month, will receive their direct deposit a day earlier.
The other birthday-based groups will still be paid on their regular Wednesday dates.
Federal rules require payments to be delivered electronically through direct deposit or the Direct Express Debit Mastercard. In most cases, deposits appear by 9:00 a.m. local time on the scheduled date. If a payment does not show up, beneficiaries should first check with their bank or financial institution before contacting the SSA.
What to Know About the Next COLA Increase
There is also another update beneficiaries should keep in mind.
The SSA has confirmed a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment for 2027.
That increase would raise average monthly retirement benefits by about $75 starting in January 2027. SSI recipients will receive their adjusted January payment early at the end of the previous year because New Year’s Day is a federal holiday.
People with my Social Security accounts will be able to view personalized COLA notices online in late November. Paper notices are expected in December.
Why It Matters
Social Security and SSI benefits provide a critical source of income for millions of households. Having the exact payment dates makes it easier for recipients to plan their budgets and manage spending.
