ShopRite gives away free wellness starter kits for shoppers beginning GLP-1 drugs

The limited-time kits include shopping tips, nutrition guidance, and product samples

Beginning a GLP-1 medication can change a person’s daily routine, including the way they shop for groceries and think about nutrition. ShopRite is trying to ease that shift with the return of its Wellness Your Way Starter Kit, a free resource for customers starting GLP-1 medications for weight management.

The grocery chain said the updated kits build on an earlier release this year. The newest version adds a more detailed nutrition guide meant to help shoppers make better-informed choices as they adapt their eating habits.

The idea is to give customers practical guidance they can use on ordinary grocery trips instead of leaving them to work out a new shopping routine on their own.

“As customers adjust their eating habits while beginning a GLP-1 medication, we want to make navigating the supermarket feel more manageable,” Aaron Sapp, Vice President of Pharmacy and Wellness for Wakefern Food Corp, said in a news release. “Our goal is to provide practical resources and support that help customers build new routines and make informed choices that work for their individual needs.”

What's included in the starter kits?

The main feature of the kit is the Wellness Your Way nutrition guide, created with help from a ShopRite registered dietitian. It leads shoppers through the supermarket aisle by aisle and offers shopping tips, product recommendations, and brand highlights.

The guide also focuses on several nutrition topics, including protein, fiber, hydration, and nutrient-dense foods. These sections are designed to help customers consider options as they plan meals and adjust their diets.

The kits also come with samples from participating brand partners. Featured brands include Ensure, TUMS, OLLY, G Hughes Zero Sugar, Mentos Gum, MiraLAX, Kraft, Bowl & Basket, Thomas’, GoGo squeeZ, Pure Protein, and Eat Pecans from the American Pecan Promotion Board.

What this means for shoppers

For eligible customers, the starter kit provides a way to access nutrition information and try selected products without paying for the kit itself. Customers filling their first GLP-1 prescription at a ShopRite Pharmacy can get one free while supplies last.

The kits are being offered for a limited time at all ShopRite Pharmacy locations, though the company did not give an end date. Customers can check with their local ShopRite Pharmacy for availability.

Shoppers can also view Wellness Your Way resources online, including the nutrition guide, without depending only on the physical kit.
