PPL Electric Utilities customers looking for help with their electric bills will have two chances to meet with company representatives at in-person events in Pennsylvania.

What to know

The first session is scheduled in Scranton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to WOLF.

The Salvation Army at 500 S. Washington Ave. will host PPL representatives. Customers can ask about payment assistance and pick up applications for a separate energy assistance program there.

Additional details

At the Scranton event, representatives will explain Operation HELP and OnTrack, two payment assistance programs offered through PPL.

They will also distribute applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP.

Human services providers are expected to attend, along with representatives from other utilities, WOLF reported.

What customers should bring

Customers should have proof of household income and identification ready for a visit to The Salvation Army.

An electric account number is another helpful item to bring so customers can provide the information PPL requests.

Those who cannot attend either session can visit PPL's bill help website for information on payment plans and assistance.

The other session will be held in Harrisburg from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More information

Beyond PPL's bill assistance events, Pennsylvania is considering broader ways to address utility costs. Related coverage looks at proposed discounts, stalled electricity legislation, shutoff protections, a utility cost review, and wastewater affordability.

• Low-income households could receive automatic utility bill discounts, but the PUC chair objects.

• A Pennsylvania proposal would cap low-income wastewater charges using a method called winter averaging.

• Electric bills are rising as proposed relief measures stall in the state Senate.

• A Pennsylvania proposal would bar shutoffs and fund backup power for residents using life-sustaining devices.
