Recipients of Supplemental Security Income will receive their November payment during October this year.
SSI is a federal program that sends payments to older adults and to people with disabilities who have limited income or financial resources. Social Security, a separate program, provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits, usually based on a worker’s earnings history.
Both programs are managed by the Social Security Administration, but they follow different payment schedules. Beneficiaries should know when to expect their next check.
Why are SSI payments being issued early?
SSI recipients will get the November payment in October because November 1 falls on a Sunday. The Social Security Administration will therefore issue payments on the previous business day.
When will Social Security payments for November be distributed?
The Social Security Administration says November payments are scheduled as follows:
For beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 1st and 10th of the month, payments are sent on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
For beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th, payments are sent on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
For beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st, payments are sent on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
When does the yearly cost-of-living boost begin?
The annual cost-of-living adjustment takes effect in January, and Social Security recipients will see the 3.6% increase in their January checks.
SSI recipients will receive their first higher payment one day early because of the New Year’s Day holiday.
