November Social Security payment schedule shifts: here’s when benefits will be paid

People who receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income should be aware that the payment calendar changes in November.

Because of the way the dates line up, some payments will be sent earlier than usual, including the monthly SSI check and one group of regular Social Security benefits.

When will Supplemental Security Income be paid?

SSI recipients will get their November payment on Friday, Oct. 30, instead of the usual Nov. 1.

That change is due to the fact that Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday. When an SSI payment date lands on a weekend or federal holiday, the money is generally issued on the previous business day.

As a result, there will not technically be an SSI payment issued during November. The Oct. 30 deposit is the November benefit, not an extra one. The next scheduled SSI payment will be Dec. 1.

According to the Social Security Administration, SSI provides monthly payments to people with disabilities and older adults who have limited or no income or resources.

What is the Social Security payment schedule for November 2026?

Most Social Security beneficiaries are paid according to their birth date. This month’s schedule is different because Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

People whose birthdays fall between the 1st and the 10th are usually paid on the second Wednesday of the month. In this case, that payment will arrive on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, Nov. 10: Birth dates from the 1st through the 10th.

• Wednesday, Nov. 18: Birth dates from the 11th through the 20th.

• Wednesday, Nov. 25: Birth dates from the 21st through the 31st.

The Social Security Administration typically issues payments on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month, depending on a recipient’s birth date.

Who receives Social Security on Nov. 3?

People who started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 generally get paid on the third day of the month. That Nov. 3 date also usually applies to people who receive both Social Security and SSI.

Those beneficiaries could therefore receive their SSI payment on Oct. 30 and their Social Security payment on Nov. 3.

Payment timing depends on a recipient’s birth date and the kind of benefits they receive. Beneficiaries can view upcoming and past payment dates through their my Social Security account.

The Social Security Administration also publishes its annual benefit payment calendar online.

When will the cost-of-living adjustment take effect?

SSI and Social Security recipients will see a 3.6% increase to their benefits in 2027.

SSI payments will rise beginning Dec. 31, 2026, while Social Security benefits will reflect the change in January 2027, according to the Social Security Administration.
