Millions of Americans are scheduled to receive Social Security payments in November. Here is the timing beneficiaries can expect.

Social Security payment schedule for November 2026

The Social Security Administration issues monthly benefits, but the exact payment date depends largely on the beneficiary’s birth date.

Retirement, disability and survivor beneficiaries who filed claims after May 1, 1997, are paid on either the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month.

Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, which provides monthly payments to people with disabilities and older adults who have limited income or resources, is normally paid on the 1st of each month.

If the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment is usually sent on the preceding weekday.

People who began receiving benefits before May 1997 also have a set payment date.

Beneficiaries can expect monthly payments on the following dates:

  • Beneficiaries who started receiving payments before May 1997: Tuesday, November 3.
  • Birth dates from the 1st through the 10th: November 10 (normally the second Wednesday, but payment is moved up because Veterans Day is a federal holiday).
  • Birth dates from the 11th through the 20th: November 18 (third Wednesday of the month).
  • Birth dates from the 21st through the 31st: November 25 (fourth Wednesday of the month).

SSI payments are usually sent on the 1st of the month unless that date falls on a weekend or holiday. Because November 1 falls on a Sunday, SSI recipients will receive their November payment on Friday, October 30.

How to report a missing Social Security payment

If an electronic payment does not arrive on the scheduled date, the Social Security Administration says recipients should first contact their bank or financial institution, which may still be processing the deposit.

If a payment is still late, missing or stolen, beneficiaries can call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or reach out to their local Social Security office.

The administration says it will review the case and replace the payment if it is due.
