Freddie Mac’s latest Primary Mortgage Market Survey shows that the average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage stood at 7.32%.
Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist, said the decline in the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage this week provides some relief for would-be homebuyers.
The 30-year FRM was down from 7.40% the previous week. At the same time a year earlier, it averaged 6.19%.
The average 15-year FRM came in at 6.68%, slightly below the prior week’s 6.71%. A year earlier, it was 5.44%.
