Maury Regional Health has treated its first patient with renal denervation (RDN), a minimally invasive procedure that provides another option for some people whose high blood pressure is difficult to control.
The Symplicity Spyral™ renal denervation system, which received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval in November 2023, works by targeting overactive nerves near the kidneys that can contribute to hypertension. The treatment is intended to work alongside lifestyle changes and medication to help patients better manage blood pressure.
