The Mary J Barnett Library is planning an informational event later this week.
Library Director Jerri Hawkins says the library will host a Social Security 101 workshop, presented virtually by Public Affairs Specialist Kristen Goodwin of the Social Security Administration. Hawkins told Raccoon Valley Radio that she arranged the program after conversations with her husband about Social Security sparked her interest in learning more.
“So I just thought well this would be a great opportunity to kind of get that out and about so people knew more information about Social Security, how to sign up, when’s the right time to sign up. And so I reached out to their offices and they offered this workshop.”
Hawkins says anyone who wants to attend should register in advance so the library can track attendance. Registration can be completed through the related post on the library’s Facebook page or by calling the library. The free workshop is set for 5 p.m. Thursday.
