IHG and Chase recently introduced an updated set of co-branded credit cards, and some benefits have not been clearly shared with current cardholders.

Current IHG Premier cardholders can receive a $100 statement credit in both 2026 and 2027 when they make a direct airline purchase of at least $250.

IHG’s co-branded card information is available on its website.

I’m in Chile at the moment and decided to explore a part of Atacama I had not visited before.

Conclusion

I also really dislike LATAM’s website, and I rarely purchase anything directly from airlines other than award tickets.

At first, LATAM would not accept the payment because I was in Chile and using a credit card issued elsewhere.

Then I tried again while tethering through my phone so the IP address appeared to be in the United States, but Chase blocked the transaction. These cards are generally not meant for other types of charges besides IHG stays, so I had to clear it.

I eventually completed the purchase on the third try.

Another option would have been to buy the lowest-priced ticket for the first segment, then spend $30 to upgrade to Premium Economy through PlusGrade, and do the same on the return, or bid $10 if the upgrade would have processed within 12 hours of departure.

Still, using up this $100 benefit, which Chase does not exactly advertise, was fairly easy overall.
