Chase is now giving new Freedom Flex cardholders 25,000 points, equal to $250 in cash back, after they spend $500 within three months of opening an account. That is 5,000 points more than the card’s standard sign-up offer. Chase says the promotion will end soon, though it has not set a deadline.
The card has no annual fee, and the increased bonus still requires $500 in purchases during the first three months. The usual offer is 20,000 points, worth $200 in cash back, for the same spending requirement. Chase does not extend this deal to current Freedom Flex cardholders or to former cardholders who received the new-account bonus in the past 24 months, and the offer can vary by application channel.
In addition to the sign-up bonus, the card features rotating quarterly rewards categories. It also earns 7X on eligible dining and 5X at qualifying grocery stores in the fourth quarter of 2026, excluding Walmart and Target, with activation required and bonus earnings capped at a combined $1,500 in quarterly spending. Other perks include 3X at drugstores and 5X on eligible travel booked through Chase Travel, and Chase has recently eliminated the foreign transaction fee.
Why it matters
Hitting the spending requirement produces $50 more in cash-back value than the standard bonus, while still keeping the card fee-free. If the promotion ends before someone applies, later applicants may only qualify for the lower regular welcome offer.
