A&P Creations LLC has announced a nationwide consumer-level recall of certain lots of the dietary supplement biQ-FEL 500 mL, with the FDA’s knowledge. At the time of the announcement, the company said it had not received any reports of adverse events linked to the recall. The product was sold to U.S. consumers through Amazon, Walmart.com, and naturefuel.us.
Why the Product Was Recalled
The recall followed FDA laboratory testing that detected sildenafil and tadalafil not listed on the product label. Both ingredients are active components in FDA-approved prescription medicines used to treat erectile dysfunction. Because they may interact with nitrates in certain prescription drugs, including nitroglycerin, the undeclared substances could cause blood pressure to drop to dangerously low levels. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease may be among those taking nitrates.
