Answer: More than 100,000 Nevadans look at their health insurance choices each year. For people who work for themselves, or for businesses that do not offer coverage, finding a plan is easier now than it used to be.

Nevada Health Link is the state’s official insurance marketplace, designed to help people find plans that match both their needs and their budget. Through NevadaHealthLink.com, you can check whether you qualify for savings based on your income and compare how much different plans will cost. Options include several coverage levels, from lower-deductible plans to those with higher copays and lower out-of-pocket expenses.

Coverage choices for self-employed workers

After completing an application on NevadaHealthLink.com, you can see whether you are eligible for premium tax credits or other savings, which are determined by income and household size. The marketplace also offers a broad range of private health insurance plans from well-known insurers.

Battle Born State Plans are also available and include discounts designed to help Nevadans save money.

Nevada Health Link has grown into a central place for health coverage in the state, giving people of different incomes, family sizes and backgrounds one platform to find a plan that fits.

What the coverage includes

One advantage of enrolling through Nevada Health Link is knowing your plan will include the care people most often need. Every plan covers the 10 Essential Health Benefits, including routine checkups, immunizations, emergency care, prescription drugs and cancer screenings.

Enrollment timing

Nevada’s open enrollment window runs from Nov. 1 through Jan. 15. During that period, Nevadans can browse plans, compare coverage and sign up for health insurance through Nevada Health Link.

If you lose job-based coverage after leaving a job, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if you apply within 60 days of losing that coverage. That means you may still be able to enroll through Nevada Health Link even outside the regular open enrollment season. However, you may not be able to keep the same plan you had through your former employer.

Free help is available in multiple languages by calling 1-800-547-2927 or by visiting NevadaHealthLink.com and using the “Find Local Assistance” tool to connect with a certified enrollment professional, either in person or virtually.
