“Clueless” star and ’90s favorite Alicia Silverstone has reached her 50th birthday. While much has changed over the years, the beliefs she lives by remain much the same.

On screen, Silverstone is best known for playing Cher Horowitz in the 1995 teen comedy “Clueless.” Off screen, she has long been passionate about animals and the environment.
“A little @peta flashback. 🥹❤️ So sweet to look back on this moment from 1997! I was only 20 years old… and yes, I still stand by every word, 🌱” Silverstone wrote in an Instagram post shared in September.
In the ad, the young actress speaks out in favor of greener, more humane alternatives to animal dissections in school classrooms.
“1997 Alicia 🤝 2026 Alicia: still showing up for animals with that same big heart 🥹🐸 So grateful for your decades of dedication ❤️” PETA commented.

These days, Silverstone is raising her 15-year-old son, Bear, as a single mother. She married Christopher Jarecki in 2005, welcomed Bear in 2011, and later separated in 2018.
Even though the marriage ended, Silverstone appears to remain on good terms with Jarecki.
“Found these sweet memories with Bear and Chris. 💛 Nature, waterfalls, tiny fingers in mouths… all the good stuff. 😂 And now this little nugget is starting high school this fall. Time really does fly, 🤷🏼♀️🥺” she wrote on Instagram in June, alongside photos of the family spending time outdoors.

To celebrate Bear’s 15th birthday, the actress shared several photos of him with fans. Many commented on how much he resembles his famous mother.
The Actress Still Calls an Eco-Friendly Home Her Own

Silverstone has kept up her environmental commitments throughout her life. At 19, she bought a house in Los Angeles and set out to turn it into an eco-friendly retreat. She and Bear still live there.
“I’m extremely conscious of the choices I make, so that my impact is as little as possible and I tread as lightly on the earth as I can. I take a lot of pride in that,” Silverstone told PEOPLE. “It just really makes me happy knowing that I don’t have to sacrifice beauty here. I don’t have to have things not be lovely” in order to be green.
She also said the property made her feel like Snow White when she first saw it.
“It was all woods and overgrown and madness, and it had a wild feeling. It was perfect,” she recalled.
Fans are wishing Alicia Silverstone a wonderful celebration as she spends time with the people she loves.
